Why is Water Leaking From the indoor unit Of the Air Conditioner?
When using an air conditioner, the following situation may occur: you turn it on, and water starts dripping out of it along with the airflow! There may be several reasons for this breakdown, but four main and most common cases of malfunction can be distinguished:
1. The first and most common is clogging of the drainage channel on the side of the indoor unit of the air conditioner.
If this is the reason, the split system is repaired by cleaning the drainage tray and the condensate drain channel. To do this, you need to dismantle the case and unfasten the fasteners of the indoor unit of the air conditioner from the wall, as a result, access to the drainage system appears. If you do not have certain technical skills and tools, then it is better to call specialists.
The second reason is the clogging of the same channel but from the street side.
The reason for its clogging can be poplar fluff, cobwebs, or just ordinary accumulated dust. The method of elimination is simple: try to clean out all the debris with a thin wire. You can use a regular vacuum cleaner for this purpose. If access to it is difficult (for example, you live on the fifth floor), then it is better to entrust the cleaning and repair of air conditioners to professionals.
The third reason is clogging or failure of the air conditioner drain pump.
If it is impossible to organize the condensate drainage by gravity, an additional device is used to pump water out of the indoor unit. Like any other equipment, the drain pump must be serviced periodically due to contamination of the float chamber and the capillary tube through which the condensate is drained. Neglect of preventive maintenance leads to the failure of the drain pump and abundant water leakage from the indoor unit of the air conditioner.
The Fourth reason is the most serious.
It is associated with a freon leak and subsequent freezing of the heat exchanger of the indoor unit of the air conditioner. The leak can be caused by a rupture of copper tubes or elements of the refrigerant circuit. Also, cracks in the tubes and depressurization of the rolling joints can occur during careless installation of the air conditioner due to the use of a thin-walled copper pipe and low-quality consumables that do not meet the GOST standard. In this case, it is very problematic to repair air conditioners of such complexity on your own.
A signal of a freon leak can be a decrease in the efficiency of cooling the room, loud noise during the operation of the device, and pieces of ice can fly out of the air duct.
High-quality repair of air conditioners is impossible without identifying the cause of the malfunction. It is sometimes impossible for an untrained person to identify a possible cause. If you do not have the necessary skills, it is recommended to seek help from professionals rather than take risks. This is the only way to be sure of the reliability and quality of the repair.
